Week 8 one to remember

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

We had a little bit of everything on Friday night, didn't we?

Superb offense (see Geneva).

Superb defense (see Batavia).

Missing quarterbacks (see Kaneland, St. Charles North).

And a heartbreaking, heartbreaking loss (see Aurora Christian).

Congratulations to the Battlin' Bulldogs for playing some great defense on Friday and proving they are without a doubt the cream of the crop in the UEC River. Isn't that right, Druley?

Very deserving champions, and with only Elgin left on the docket, let the playoff preparations begin in earnest for Batavia.

Both Kaneland and North had to adjust to different QBs on Friday, leaving some questions on the table for the longer-term. But the Knights and North Stars both won anyway, setting up huge games next week, Kaneland vs. Morris for the conference crown and North vs. South Elgin for a spot in the playoffs.

The fact that Kaneland beat a pretty solid Sycamore team comfortably without DD under center speaks volumes about what the Knights have goin' on.

Lastly, give it up for Geneva and Marmion for playing with heart despite no playoffs in their future. Both teams are playing some quality football right now, and probably are good enough to have put a scare in some playoff teams if they had found a way to get to 5 Ws.
