ST. CHARLES – Those who want to participate in the Holiday Homecoming Electric Christmas Parade have less than two weeks to submit their applications.
The Downtown St. Charles Partnership will accept entry forms through Oct. 26 for the Nov. 24 event.
“We like to make sure we get the word out to everybody,” said Lynne Schwartz, executive director of the partnership.
Participants may include businesses, clubs, school groups and nonprofit organizations, Schwartz said. The entry fee is $125 for partnership members and $250 for businesses; fees are waived for nonprofits.
Because the parade begins at night, all entries must be lit, Schwartz said. She noted entrants don’t need to know their design when they submit an application.
“We’ve had some really creative entries in the past,” she said. “It’s fun to see what people do.”
The parade will be on Main Street between Sixth Street and Fourth Avenue. Depending on the weather, Schwartz said, it typically attracts up to 10,000 spectators.
“It’s really just a great opportunity to show some community spirit, get involved in the community and highlight your business or organization,” Schwartz said.
Holiday Homecoming weekend also includes the Lighting of the Lights in the First Street Plaza on Nov. 23, movies at the Arcada Theatre, sleigh rides and visits with Santa. All events and activities are free.
