Oswego resident Betty Gaddy, 53, was shopping at the St. Peter Barn Sale when she answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? New Madrid, Mo.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Halle Berry

First job? In an after-school trade program when I was 16 or 17 years old

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a spokesperson for human rights. I did not become that, but I do speak out a lot for other people in the area for different topics and events.

A book you’d recommend? “Dreams From my Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance” by President Barack Obama

What is your guilty pleasure? Sleeping

Favorite charity? Gayles Memorial Baptist Church in
Aurora

Hobbies? I just love doing things for other people.

Do you play an instrument? Clarinet

Favorite local restaurant? Houlihan’s in Geneva

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? President Barack Obama came to our church when
he was a U.S. senator, and we got to meet him and speak briefly to him. My husband’s aunt in Missouri actually met Martin Luther King.
