Three charged in robbery in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES – Two Chicago men and a St. Charles teenager were charged in a robbery that took place Wednesday evening in the 200 block of 19th Street.

A 44-year-old man reported that three male suspects choked and punched him in the face at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday. The suspects also took his wallet, police said. After the assault, the victim walked to his home and canceled his stolen credit card. When he was informed by the bank that four transactions had just been made at the 7-Eleven, 1705 W. Main St., he called 911.

Minutes after the robbery, officers located the three suspects matching the description made by the victim in the 1800 block of Indiana Street.

Deontae C. Nichols, 22, of 2241 S. Hamlin St., Chicago and a 16-year-old St. Charles boy were charged with robbery, theft and unlawful possession of a credit card. Deaunta J. Talyor, 23, of 717 Springfield Ave. Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen credit card.

Bail was set Thursday at $100,000 for Nichols and Taylor. The 16-year-old is being detained at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center.
