Sheriff's office investigates suspicious incident

MAPLE PARK – Police are investigating a suspicious incident that happened Tuesday near Maple Park after receiving a report that an older man offered a child a ride in his vehicle.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the incident – which was in the 44W400 block of Beith Road – shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday. A suspicious vehicle pulled into the driveway of a home where an 8-year-old boy was outside. The driver asked the child if he wanted a ride, and the boy ran to the house, according to a news release.

The mother of the child also saw the vehicle, describing it as a maroon 1990s model four-door car, possibly with a hatchback. She said the vehicle also had a loud muffler. She described the driver as an older male with white hair, glasses and a wrinkled face.

What do you think of people using fireworks near their homes?

That shouldn't be tolerated. It's dangerous.
I'd never do it, but I'll watch others.
It's OK so long as the fireworks are legal.
It's not a problem. It's just a way to celebrate.
I have no opinion.
