Faith Christian marks 30 years in Geneva

GENEVA – For three decades, Faith Christian Academy in Geneva has been educating children with a mission of teaching them to know Jesus Christ and to develop strong academics.

The school, at 1745 Kaneville Road, will host a dinner at 6 p.m. Sunday for students, alumni and interested members of the community, to celebrate 30 years in the Fox Valley.

Founded in 1982, the school, which serves children from second through eighth grade, has graduated more than 250 students. The school began with director Ruth Clapper, who said she was asked to establish first and second grade.

“Then we added third grade and hired another teacher,” Clapper said. “We added one grade per year through middle school.”

Ninety students currently attend, she said.

The preschool began in 1979 and is called Faith Christian Beginner School, serving children ages 3 through first grade, Clapper said. It is separate from the academy.

“For 30 years, we have been bringing children to the Lord Jesus Christ and preparing them for the academic world of high school when they leave us and equipping them for the future God has planned for them,” Clapper said. “We are here to celebrate the fact that we are still doing the thing we set out to do 30 years ago.”

The banquet celebration will feature a guest speaker, the Rev. Peter Sutton of Christ Community Church, and presentations commemorating the school’s past 30 years. Special music will be provided throughout the evening.

Festivities begin with hors d’oeuvres at 5 p.m., with the dinner and program to follow at 6 p.m. To attend, call the school by noon Friday at 630-232-7779.
