Dog attacked, taken by coyotes in North Aurora
NORTH AURORA – A small dog was reported to be attacked and taken by coyotes Sunday in North Aurora, and police are urging residents to be aware that such danger exists.
Police said the incident took place at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of Sterkel Road, between Kelly and Western drives. The dog involved was an 11-pound, 5-year-old Yorkshire terrier.
North Aurora Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki said it was believed to be the first coyote attack this year in North Aurora, but he said that many residents have reported hearing and seeing coyotes. Buziecki said the dog is presumed to be dead; there has been no sign of it since the attack.
