Elburn officer injured while directing traffic
ELBURN – An Elburn police officer was hurt Monday when, while trying to direct traffic after a collision, his right hand was clipped, apparently by the side-view mirror of a passing car. Elburn Police Chief Steve Smith said the officer was treated at Delnor Hospital and released.
Smith said the officer suffered “soft-tissue injury.” Smith said there were no broken bones, but the officer would have his arm in a sling. Smith declined to name the officer.
The incident took place at 6:10 p.m. near the intersection of Route 47 and Keslinger Road, Smith said. The officer was responding to a collision in which one car rear-ended another north of Keslinger at 5:36 p.m. Monday.
