Letter: Let’s not ruin Geneva education

It’s unpatriotic to pick on the fire and police departments, but it seems to be OK to rip the teachers of this community where the motto is “A Tradition of Excellence.”

A large number of us settled in Geneva for these excellent services. I am happy to have brought up my sons in this community and am proud of the education they received. I’m sure those who have also done so agree.

The tradition, however, is being ruined by a special interest group. The tax watchdogs have manipulated the school board into believing it has a patriotic duty to cut taxes by tearing down this great institution. Why shouldn’t our teachers get the same deal as teachers in other districts? They have proven themselves as indicated by the test scores that put them in the lead in our area.
