BATAVIA – Batavia Academy of Dance and The Magical World of Dance will hold its grand reopening ceremony from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke will be in attendance for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. The celebration will include live dance performances, carnival games and prizes for kids.

The first 100 shoppers at The Magical World of Dance will receive a free tote bag good for discounts on return visits. Every visitor is encouraged to spin the prize wheel to win discounts on dance classes and merchandise and to enter the raffle to win a free year of dance classes.

The second studio space included in the expansion allows Batavia of Dance to offer twice as many classes, which became a necessity for the studio.

“Our program and students have grown so tremendously over the past three years,” Anne Gugliuzza, artistic director and owner, said in a news release.

Batavia Academy of Dance offers classes in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical/contemporary, hip-hop, acro dance, ballroom, musical theater and Zumba for ages 3 through adult. The academy also has a national award-winning competition team.

With an expansion of the dancewear boutique, The Magical World of Dance offers new retail to downtown Batavia.
