Park Place Interiors to close Geneva store

GENEVA – Geneva will have one fewer storefront by the end of December, but the owner of the departing business plans to keep the company running online.

After eight years in Geneva, Park Place Interiors will close at 407 S. Third St. in Geneva. Kathleen Newhouse, CEO of Park Place Interiors, said the company’s lease is up in December, and she didn’t want to renew the lease because of the economy.

“I love the town of Geneva,” Newhouse said. “That is what is near and dear to me. I will miss that tremendously.”

Through the end of December, Park Place Interiors is having a close-out sale of in-store products, from chandeliers to area rugs. She said everything must go, and items are at liquidation prices.

As the business shifts to its online-only presence at, Newhouse said she’s looking forward to working with customers on an individual basis. She said Park Place Interiors has found success with staging and room design, and she hopes to continue working with new and returning customers.

Newhouse, who said she also is certified through the American Society of Interior Designers, said Park Place Interiors has an online presence at, where customers can find photos of projects and contact information.

Aside from moving to an online-only business, Newhouse said she’s looking forward to being featured in “Interiors Midwest,” a coffee-table book that includes the best designers in the Midwest. The book will be released in February.

Although her business will continue, Newhouse said she’s going to miss having a store in Geneva.

“My store was like a portfolio,” she said. “I’m going to miss people coming in. I’m truly going to miss that.”
