Face Time with Max Herwig
Max Herwig, 66, a North Aurora resident and a member of the board of the Fox Valley Wildlife Center in Elburn, was at the Town and Country Public Library when he answered 12 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Al Lagattolla.
Where grow did you grow up? Aurora
Do you have any pets? Three cats, Ruby, Mishy and Daisy
Who would play you in the movie of your life? Paul Newman
What was your first job? I worked for a landscaper during the summer when I was going to high school.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A carpenter
Did you become that? No. I was a technical manager for Bell Laboratories.
Do you have a favorite charity? Fox Valley Wildlife Center in Elburn
What are your hobbies? I like to fish and bike.
What is your favorite movie? “The Green Mile”
What is your favorite local restaurant? Wee-Dee’s in North Aurora
What do you do at the wildlife center? We reside in the Elburn Forest Preserve, and we rescue wild animals that are injured and get them hopefully back to well-being and release them.
What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I like to keep busy. I’m retired, but I’m not.
