Kaneland Connection: Where’s Waldo? Find out at Elburn library

Staff members have planned a hunt for Waldo, a trivia quiz and prizes to celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Where’s Waldo?”

Also, staff members Tyler Hawland and Anna Pauls will spend time dressed in character as Waldo and Wanda.

“I love Waldo,” said Pauls, who put together the event.

“Where’s Waldo?” refers to the popular books in which readers are tasked to look at detailed scenes featuring many people and must try to find Waldo, who is on a worldwide hike. Waldo has a distinctive look, tall and dark-haired, wearing a shirt with red and white stripes, a white hat with red trimming and blue jeans.

Wanda has a similar look, dressed in red and white. Both have distinctive glasses.

Pauls said it was a good reason to put together a celebration during the time between Halloween and Thanksgiving.

There are decorations, and the hope is that youth will embrace the opportunity to participate in the quiz and look for Waldo.

But don’t look for Waldo books. As of now, they all have been checked out. Pauls said the books circulate well.

Sugar Grove library survey

The Sugar Grove Public Library’s website – www.sugargrove.lib.il.us – features an online survey that seeks input about the library’s operating hours.

“We are considering expanding the library hours in 2013 and would like your input regarding additional days/hours the library could be open,” the survey reads.

The survey features seven questions, and each one presents a different scenario of days the library would be in operation.

Some scenarios would have the library closed Sunday and Monday, as it currently is. In other scenarios, it would be closed Friday.

It also asks which is more important – being open every day, even if the hours may not be ideal, or being open early or late some days, even if that means the library must be closed other days.
