BATAVIA – Golden Corral franchise owner Sam Gibson said he will be happy when his restaurant at 2030 Main St. opens.

Gibson said plans are to open at 11 a.m. Saturday for lunch. Workers were busy preparing for the opening Thursday.

“We are jam-packed with people right now,” he said.

The building, which has been completed since October 2008, had been tied up in foreclosure.

Gibson owns another Golden Corral in Schererville, Ind. Golden Corral is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Information is available by calling the restaurant at 630-844-1002.

This would be the first Golden Corral restaurant in the Tri-Cities area. The closest Golden Corral restaurants are in Aurora, Algonquin and Elgin.

Residents also will see the opening of a Chick-fil-A in the coming months. Chick-fil-A is building a 4,869-square-foot restaurant with a two-lane drive-thru at the corner of McKee Street and Randall Road in front of the former Wickes furniture store.
