St. Charles East boys basketball coach Pat Woods said Friday afternoon he expects senior standout Kendall Stephens to play this season, starting with next week's season-opening St. Charles East Thanksgiving Tournament.
Stephens suffered a torn right labrum in practice last week that will require surgery to correct. Woods said he expects that procedure to take place after this season, provided Stephens can play through the soreness.
"If he had a chance to damage it any further, we wouldn't let him play, but that's not the case," Woods said.
A Purdue recruit, Stephens is the area's most decorated basketball player. He averaged 17.9 points and 7.6 rebounds last year as a junior, his third year on varsity.
