Geneva School Board plans special meeting for Tuesday

GENEVA – The Geneva District 304 school board has scheduled a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, to approve the teachers contract, as ratified by the Geneva Education Association, board president Mark Grosso said

The action is scheduled to follow a closed session to discuss collective bargaining and pending litigation.

Summaries of the terms of the three-year contract will be made available to the public following the vote, he said.

The anticipated contract followed 10 months of negotiations and tensions between teachers and the school board over salaries and benefits. Teacher had announced they would strike, but a tentative agreement last weekend kept school in session.
