Saturday's Prep Roundup: St. Charles East girls basketball wins in OT

SCHAUMBURG – The St. Charles East girls basketball team notched its first victory of the season on Saturday, topping Rockford Boylan, 52-49, in overtime during Schaumburg Thanksgiving Tournament play.

East (1-2) nearly squandered a double-digit, second-half lead before recovering to force the extra period.

Paige Jordan swished a key three-pointer late in the fourth quarter, setting the stage for Kyra Washington's pair of free throws that helped the Saints tie the game at the end of regulation.

"I was disappointed in letting go of a big lead, but pleased we showed the poise in fighting back to get it to overtime," Saints coach Lori Drumtra said. "This is always a tournament full of tests, so hopefully we can build from it."

Immaculate Conception Tournament:
At Elmhurst, Emma Bradford helped Kaneland to a season-opening, 47-38, victory against Regina Dominican by shooting 6 for 8 from the field and finishing with 13 points.

Sarah Grams added eight points and five rebounds for the Knights, who had a 23-8 halftime lead.

Burlington Central Thanksgiving Tournament:
The host Rockets improved to 3-0 by defeating Ellison and Sycamore. The Rockets won the Sycamore game, 42-40, in overtime.

Holt (21 points) and Ross (10) scored in double figures in the Ellison game, while Colby notched 13 against Sycamore.
