Larsen's Christmas Light Show starts Thursday in Elburn

ELBURN – Those in the mood for a holiday light show can find one on Thanksgiving, as Larsen's Christmas Light Show gets under way in Elburn.

Brian Larsen will be putting on the show for the seventh year at his home, which is at 42W891 Beith Road. The show won't be hard to find – the flashing lights from the house can be seen from Route 38 and Route 47. If you can get close enough, you can read the signs instructing those watching that they can tune into a radio station (last year, it was 88.5 FM) to listen to the music that goes along with the show.

Larsen said there are 22 songs as part of the display, with a grand finale of "God Bless the USA" planned. It's a show that takes months to plan, and Larsen said he hears from many in the community about it. That is the point, he said.

"The reason I do it is for people to see it and enjoy the holidays," he said. "I think people are happy. I think a lot of people look forward to it."

New this year will be something Larsen calls "tornado trees," which appear to twist.

The show runs each night through the holiday season, from 5 to 11 p.m. It is a huge display, featuring more than a million lights. There are trees, lasers and stars. Those looking to get a glimpse of what it looks like can find it by doing a search for "Larsen's Christmas Light Show" on YouTube.
