To the Editor:
As I write this letter, there are tears of gratitude in my eyes, and there is a 16-foot rental truck sitting in my driveway. The truck is filled to capacity with more than 1,800 new toys that were donated by generous, enthusiastic young people and others in our community who helped support this year’s S.A.N.T.A. – Send A New Toy (to) Appalachia – Project.
On Monday, my husband and I drove the truck to Estill County in Kentucky, where the toys could be distributed to underprivileged children who, without this support, would not have holiday gifts at all.
A huge thank you to everyone who made a donation to this, our annual Make A Difference Day project, but especially to Friendship Station Preschool, Fabyan Elementary School, Harrison Elementary School, the Geneva High School Key Club, the Aurora Central Catholic High School Key Club, St. Peter Elementary School, Yorkville Intermediate School, the Geneva mayor’s office, the Geneva City Council, Dr. Kent Mutchler from Geneva School District 304, the Maas family and members of A Lasting World Inc.
May the joy you bring to others return to you each and every day during this holiday season and all through 2013. You all have a special place in my heart!
