2012 Kane County Chronicle Girls Volleyball All-Area Team

First team
Hannah Buck
Geneva, Sr., OH

The unanimous all-Upstate Eight Conference River selection showed her versatility with 280 digs and 272 kills. Provided top offensive threat for conference and regional champion Vikings.

Maddie Haggerty
St. Francis, Jr., OH

The powerful Haggerty led the 3A state champion Spartans in kills (300) and was among the Spartans’ leaders in digs (163). Formed potent 1-2 punch at the net alongside younger sister Molly, a St. Francis freshman.

Nicole Woods
St. Charles East, Sr., OH

Memphis recruit powered Saints with team-leading 361 kills, and also supplied 215 digs, 38 aces and 21 blocks.

Erienne Barry
St. Charles East, Sr., S

A four-year varsity standout for the Saints, the towering setter capped her career with 788 assists to go with 189 digs, 41 aces and 35 blocks. Will play collegiately at Western Michigan.

McKenna Kelsay
St. Francis, Sr., S

Kelsay orchestrated a dynamic, versatile offense for St. Francis, distributing the ball to a wide array of targets. Notched 921 assists, including 37 in a tight, 3A state semifinal win against Champaign Centennial. Also supplied 261 digs.

Alex Busch
St. Charles North, Sr., DS/L

Busch served as the defensive catalyst for a North Stars team that won a regional championship and was much improved in the back row this season, according to coach Lindsey Hawkins.

Kelly Dalheim
Geneva, Sr., L

The Kane County Chronicle Player of the Year made her mark with a program record 573 digs in her first season starting as the Vikings’ libero. Also set program single-match record with 41 digs in sectional championship match against Glenbard West.
