Our View: Moving forward with new county officials
Newly elected county officials – including incoming Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen – will be sworn in Monday, meaning it is time to unpause county government and move forward with critical business.
As is often the case when regime change is afoot, the past several weeks have been quiet on the county government front, but several pressing matters soon must receive the attention they deserve.
Among the front burner matters at hand – hiring somebody to fill the vacant finance director position, zeroing in on badly needed upgrades to the courts’ computer system and beginning what we hope will be a vigorous, transparent debate about how to offset lost revenue from the county’s property tax levy freeze.
