Public hearing to continue on Kiva Recovery

CAMPTON HILLS – A public hearing will continue Tuesday on an alcohol- and substance-abuse treatment facility proposed for the former Glenwood School site.

Campton Hills Village President Patsy Smith said the village board will hold its regular meeting at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Campton Township Community Center, 5N082 Old LaFox Road in Campton Hills.

Smith said she expects the meeting to reconvene at 7 p.m. at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Road in St. Charles, to open the public hearing. She said the village board chose the location to accommodate the large number of people who have shown interest at previous meetings.

After four public hearings, the Plan Commission made a favorable recommendation – with conditions – to the village board regarding zoning requirements for special use. Tuesday's public hearing is the second to be held by the village board.

Smith said she hopes to have the results of an independent property impact study by Tuesday's meeting so it can be part of the discussion.

She said people who were not able to speak at the most recent public hearing will get priority at Tuesday's public meeting. She said after those residents speak, others will have a chance to weigh in on the property impact study if it's ready by Tuesday.
