St. Charles resident wins international scholarship

ST. CHARLES – Katie Reiter, a recent St. Charles East High School graduate, has  been awarded a $20,000 scholarship from Edison International.

Edison International is a parent company of power producer Midwest Generation, which operates the Joliet Generating Station.

Reiter is the daughter of John Reiter and Elizabeth Meisner.

Edison International’s Howard P. Allen scholarships were awarded to eight recipients in Illinois including Reiter. Eligible recipients are planning on attending a four-year university, and are rewarded to the children of employees or retirees of Edison International companies.

Katie Reiter’s father works as a predictive maintenance specialist at Joliet Generating Station.

“We are pleased that Midwest Generation, on behalf of Edison International, can help Katie [Reiter] achieve her goals,” said Joliet Generating Station director Bill Naglosky, in a recent news release. “We are happy to make this investment in her education and know it will yield positive results.”

This fall Katie is attending Princeton University, majoring in Economics. While at St. Charles East High School, Katie was an AP Scholar with honors, Illinois State Scholar and Yearbook editor-in-chief.
