Saturday's Prep Roundup: Batavia boys basketball runs out of steam at Quincy

QUINCY – The Batavia boys basketball team led for much of the game Saturday night but couldn't finish the game off against Quincy, falling, 50-42.

The Bulldogs (2-3) were down three with the ball with 1:25 to play before Quincy put the game away.

"We had trouble closing it out but I'm encouraged," Batavia coach Jim Nazos said. "I thought we took some strides here today. We're a team that played better than we did last night [against Geneva]."

Micah Coffey (12 points, three assists), Jake Pollack (11 points, five rebounds) and Zach Strittmatter (10 points, eight rebounds) paced Batavia.

Nazos called the atmosphere in Quincy's gym "one of the best in the state of Illinois," but was proud of how well the Bulldogs maintained their composure.
