No violations found in tobacco sales checks
ST. CHARLES – No violations were noted during the St. Charles Police Department’s first round of tobacco compliance checks for the 2012-13 grant period, police announced Tuesday.
Compliance checks are performed to determine whether local tobacco retailers are complying with Illinois state minimum-age tobacco laws, which prohibit the sale of tobacco to minors.
On Nov. 26, a 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl helped police test 33 businesses, which also were inspected for required signage and the presence of synthetic tobacco or bath salt products.
