BATAVIA – Dan Shanahan wants Fox Valley residents to find their inner peace. Shanahan, a Batavia resident, is opening A Journey Om yoga studio at 109 E. Wilson St. in downtown Batavia.

“It’s about allowing people to find that warm, comfortable, safe place, to find peace and calm within their brain,” Shanahan said.

This is the second yoga studio to open in downtown Batavia. Shine yoga studio recently opened at 5 N. River St.

Shanahan said his yoga studio will offer classes geared to beginners and those experienced in yoga. Shanahan is one of the studio’s five instructors.

The studio will have heated floors, he said.

“It’s the only heated yoga studio in the Chicago area as far as I know,” Shanahan said. “It makes for a deeper, warmer relaxing experience.”

A Journey Om will not charge membership fees. Classes will be offered for $10 each. The yoga studio will hold a 12-hour grand opening celebration Dec. 12, starting at 12:12 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“I wanted to have a date that was easy to remember,” Shanahan said.

The grand opening activities will conclude at 12:12 a.m. Dec. 13 with a grand prize drawing of 109 free yoga classes. Information about A Journey Om is available at www.ajourneyom.us or by calling 630-849-6134.
