FIRST-TEAM OFFENSE

Micah Coffey, Batavia, Jr., QB
A Bulldogs legacy following in the footsteps of two older brothers, Coffey completed 60 percent of his passes in his first season under center. The All-UEC River selection passed for 1,732 yards and 18 touchdowns for the 9-1 league champs.

Bobby Hess, Geneva, Sr., RB
Hess was a steadying – and fleet – force for the Geneva offense during a season of injuries and transition at quarterback. He rushed 213 times for 1,496 yards and 22 touchdowns while scoring 144 of the Vikings' 283 points.

Anthony Scaccia, Batavia, Jr., RB
The shifty Scaccia spelled a cramping Anthony Thielk in the Bulldogs' Week 1 victory against eventual 8A runner-up Glenbard North. He scarcely left the field after that, tallying 12 touchdowns and 1,946 all-purpose yards as a runner/receiver/kick returner.

Chad Beebe, Aurora Christian, Sr., WR
Northern Illinois recruit established program records for receptions in a single game (16), season (65) and career (156) despite missing five games with a broken right arm. Finished with 980 receiving yards and 15 TDs for two-time defending 3A state champs.

Zack Martinelli, Kaneland, Sr., WR
Led the Knights in receptions (43) yards (731) and touchdowns (11) during a season in which his expert run-blocking was equally coveted. Kaneland balanced its rushing attempts out of its powerful spread offense, but Martinelli always stood at the ready.

Zach Strittmatter, Batavia, Sr., WR
Caught plenty of attention in opposing game plans en route to 52 receptions for 798 yards and 13 touchdowns. The three-year starter was an Illinois Coaches Association Class 7A All-State pick, Academic All-State honoree and UEC River Offensive MVP.

Kyle Bosch, St. Francis, Sr., OL
The hulking Michigan recruit from St. Charles closed a standout career by anchoring a Spartans front five that paved the way for a solid Wing-T attack. The Spartans averaged 6.4 yards per carry during the season, but finished just a few playoff points shy of the 5A postseason.

Connor Chapman, Geneva, Sr., OL
Vikings coach Rob Wicinski leaned on the burly right tackle to make assignment calls at the line of scrimmage. Most times, they were spot on, as the two-time all-UEC River honoree was part of an offense that averaged 254.9 yards per game on the ground.

Josh Kok, Aurora Christian, Sr., OL
Kok started on both lines for the second successive season while earning recognition as SCC Blue Lineman of the Year. Also vied with close friend Jonah Walker for the program's single-season sacks record.

Adam Hunger, Batavia, Sr., OL
Yielded as many sacks – three – as he scored touchdowns for the two-time defending UEC River champs. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Hunger also excelled as an H-back/wing in certain sets.

Zach Theis, Kaneland, Sr., OL
Named to the Coaches Association Class 5A All-State team after earning NI Big 12 Offensive MVP honors, Theis was a force at left tackle as the Knights rolled to 4,237 yards of total offense and their third straight conference title.

FIRST-TEAM DEFENSE

Marquise Jenkins, Batavia, Sr., DL
Routinely creating pressure using speed he honed as a sprinter during track season, the intimidating Jenkins collected 9.5 sacks and 14 quarterback hurries or hits. One of 14 Bulldogs to earn all-UEC River recognition.

Jaumaureo Phillips, Kaneland, Jr., DL
Converted to defense in the offseason, the 340-pounder returned to his roots as a tackle in the team's jumbo package during its memorable Week 9 win against eventual 5A runner-up Morris. As a defensive tackle, "Jomo" had nine tackles for loss and three sacks.

Izzy Rosa, Aurora Central Catholic, Sr., DL
Another two-way force, Rosa made 27 tackles for loss among his 86 total stops and was named SCC Gold Defensive Player of the Year. Made 18 tackles in team's 3A first-round loss at St. Joseph-Ogden, its first playoff appearance since 1997.

Joel Bouagnon, Aurora Christian, Sr., LB
An NIU-bound Burlington Central transfer who also shined at running back, Bouagnon had a team-best 133 tackles with three interceptions and a pair of defensive scores. His 11 stops in ACS' 3A state championship win against Tolono Unity tied for the team high.

Brandon Mayes, Aurora Christian, Sr., LB
Versatile Mayes carries titles of both 2012 Kane County Chronicle Player of the Year and the best high school player Don Beebe ever coached. Beebe didn't shy from that superlative after Mayes collected 123 tackles (17.5 for loss) and 1,317 yards of total offense.

Joe Hoscheit, St. Charles East, Sr., LB
The patron Saint of stamina, Hoscheit spearheaded East's first playoff season since 2009 with 94 tackles and five sacks, adding 10 total touchdowns as a fullback. Earned honors as a Coaches Association 7A all-state pick and was UEC River Defensive MVP.

Mickey Watson, Batavia, Sr., LB
Three-sport stalwart got a jump start on wrestling and rugby with a team-high 85 tackles, adding three sacks and eight hurries. Coach Dennis Piron praised Watson's leadership and versatility as he took over for 2011 conference defensive MVP Sean Oroni.

Jesse Balluff, Kaneland, Jr., DB
Better known for his offense, Balluff took a few early-season snaps at safety before emerging as a starter in Week 5 at Rochelle. Had 31 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery while contributing 1,414 all-purpose yards and 16 touchdowns as a running back/returner.

Nick McCullough, St. Charles North, Sr., DB
Senior safety delivered one of four interceptions and one of two punt return TDs in Week 6 victory against Streamwood. Followed injury-shortened junior season with 41 tackles as North's stout defense led the way in 4-5 season.

Dylan Nauert, Kaneland, Jr., DB
Nauert's three interceptions in Kaneland's 5A playoff opener against Belvidere North ensured there would be no follow-up drama from the Bucs after a 2011 nail-biter. Multi-sport athlete also was a popular receiving target for quarterback Drew David.

Anthony Sciarrino, St. Charles East, Sr., DB
Filling in at running back as Justin Cameron battled early season injuries, Sciarrino made his biggest impact in the other two phases. His pair of interceptions helped the Saints to a Week 7 win at Streamwood, making East playoff-eligible for the first time in three falls.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Matt Rodriguez, Kaneland, Jr., K
Converted 6 of 7 field goal attempts (including two exceeding 40 yards) while making 53 of 58 extra points. Also averaged 43 yards on 10 punts, including six inside the opponents' 20-yard line.

Jake Ruddy, Marmion, Sr., KR
A two-way starter at running back and defensive back for his final two seasons, Ruddy also averaged more than 20 yards per kickoff return. He blocked a kick and was voted team MVP.
