Prep roundup: St. Charles East girls basketball turns tables on Wildcats
ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles East girls basketball team turned the tables on West Chicago, a team that has given the Saints trouble the past few years, surging past the Wildcats, 57-37, on Tuesday in nonconference play.
The Saints led 29-23 at halftime before starting the second half strong.
“It was kind of like the [St. Charles North game on Saturday], we came alive at the half, and outscored them, 17-7, in the third quarter,” East coach Lori Drumtra said.
East (4-4) was led by Paige Jordan (15 points) and Carly Pottle (14). Laura Panicali scored 25 of the 37 points for West Chicago.
Burlington Central 37, Rockford Christian 33: At Burlington, freshman Shelby Holt scored 16 points for the Rockets, who made 10 of their 12 free throws.
Glenbard South 42, Wheaton Academy 23: At West Chicago, Abby Olson’s nine points paced Wheaton Academy in the nonconference loss.
Aurora Central Catholic 66, Plainfield Central 60: At Plainfield, Zach Flint scored 25 points, Shawn Soris added 15 and Anthony Andujar had 13 to lead ACC (5-1) to its fifth straight win.
