GENEVA – Fifth Ward Alderman Ralph Dantino announced Thursday that he would seek a second term.

Dantino, 56, was treated for cancer last year, but says his health is good enough for him to seek re-election.

“I am running again because I enjoy doing it,” Dantino said. “After the first four years, I think I learned the ropes. I just want to keep the city running as smoothly and efficiently as it can, weathering the financial storm of the past four years.”

The municipal elections are set for April 9. Petitions can be filed from Dec. 17 to Dec. 26.
