Johnsburg man critically injured in crash near Pingree Road

PINGREE GROVE - A Johnsburg man was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Route 72, according to authorities.

The driver of the truck, Mike Fritz, said he was turning onto Route 72 when the sedan swerved into his lane, causing the two vehicles to collide. Fritz was told by responding officers that the individual in the sedan was alive but in critical condition.

The individual has been identified as a 26-year-old Johnsburg man, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. The preliminary investigation shows that the semi-tractor was heading east on Route 72 when the sedan crossed into oncoming traffic at a high rate of speed and struck the semi-tractor.
