Face Time with Eduardo Moreno

Batavia resident Eduardo Moreno, 44, was at the Batavia Public Library when he answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? Morelia, Michoacán in Mexico. I came here 20 years ago.

Pets? A cockatiel named Pancho

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Matt Damon

First job? I was a soldier in the Mexican Army when I was 17.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a police investigator. I did not become that. I am a waste hauler, instead.

A movie you’d recommend? “Awakenings”

Favorite charity? I donate blood to the American Red Cross.

Do you play an instrument? I play with my guitar, but I don’t play the guitar. It’s an acoustic guitar.

Hobbies? Reading

Favorite local restaurant? International House of Pancakes in St. Charles

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I was shot in a confrontation in Mexico. Somebody just produced a gun and shot me in my left lung. I was this close to dying – but I didn’t die, and here I am. He went to jail.
