Paramount art opening features local photographer
AURORA – The Paramount Theatre is currently exhibiting the work of local photographer Brian DeWolf of Batavia. The solo exhibition will run through Jan. 31 in its visual Art Gallery, located on the 2nd floor of the Grand Gallery of the Paramount Theatre.
The exhibit features a collection of banner prints from the Croissy exhibit in France as well as more recent images taken in the Fox Valley area. Most pieces are available for purchase.
There will be an opening reception meet-and-greet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the theater, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora. The event is free and open to the public.
About the artist
DeWolf is a member of Professional Photographers of America. His image “Foggy Morning Ride” was accepted into the PPA Loan Collection for 2002.
“Foggy Morning Ride” was also featured in an advertising section for Geneva in Chicago Magazine in 2003.
The image also won the Denise Kavanagh Award at the St. Charles Fine Art Show in 2003.
In 2008, DeWolf won the Bronze Level Photographer of the Year award.
About 80 of DeWolf’s images of the Fox Valley were chosen for “A Toast to the 14th Congressional District” event and fundraiser.
In 2007, DeWolf was invited to Croissy sans Frontieres in Croissy sur Seine, France by representatives of the Geneva International Cultural Exchange Committee. DeWolf was invited to photograph Croissy as a step in developing an artist exchange program between the two cities.
The exchange resulted in a 2009 solo exhibit in France.
