Batavia to consider salary
increases

BATAVIA – Nonunion Batavia employees and paid-on-call firefighters may receive 2 percent salary increases next year.

The Batavia City Council is expected to vote on the salary increases at its Monday meeting. Nonunion Batavia employees include positions such as city engineer, street superintendent, public works director, police chief and fire chief. The salary increases for the nonunion workers are included in the city’s $93.3 million 2013 budget, which aldermen approved last week.

As proposed, firefighters would see their starting salary increase to $10 an hour, up from $9.80. Captains would see their salary increase to $20.74 an hour, up from $20.33.
