Letter: Protesting the loss of American freedom
To the Editor:
In response to “Are we all entitled?” (Kane County Chronicle, Nov. 23, 2012), please permit me to respond to the poor reader who is puzzled by what he has observed in his dear old U.S. of A. For I have also watched changes in this nation – changes that have raised concern for me, as well. I wish to offer the following explanation from a Libertarian perspective, using a quote from one of the most popular U.S. presidents of all time, FDR:
“... the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in it’s essence, is fascism – ownership of government by an individual, by a group or by any other controlling private power.”
