Published: Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

NORTH AURORA – North Aurora police are investigating an armed robbery of a female 7-Eleven employee Monday outside of the store at 2 S. Lincolnway.

North Aurora Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki said he could not share information on whether the department has any leads or witnesses.

The department was dispatched to the store at 9:57 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery. About 9:40 a.m., a female employee was robbed outside of the store as she was transporting store money to the bank. According to police, the suspect was waiting out of sight on the south side of the building, knocked the employee to the ground, displayed the barrel of a gun and demanded money.

The female complied with the suspect’s demand, and the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of money. He was last seen southbound through the alley between Route 31 and Adams Street, police said. Officers completed an area search but could not find the suspect.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned male, appearing to be Hispanic, between 5 feet, 8 inches, and 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and heavy set. He was wearing a black quilted puffy coat, black pants, black work boots and a black knit beanie hat. He was armed with what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun.

North Aurora police stressed that the offender targeted the store, not a random customer.
