Sound Off: Something for nothing

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The following is what our readers sounded off about this week:

Something for nothing

Who says nothing is impossible? I can do nothing all day long. Elect me to Congress, instead of Hultgren or Roskam. I’ll save you all money. I can do nothing for half what they cost you.

Unions do nothing

Hostess closed up, and all those people lost their jobs. But I heard that all of the executives got hefty bonuses. The average worker gets nothing. They lose out. You could be a hard worker. You could do the best job. But if the company closes, and there is a union involved, you get nothing. You paid all those years to the union, and what do you get? Nothing.

America has spoiled Michelle Obama

Before Barack Obama became president, Michelle Obama said she was never proud of America. Why hasn’t the media played this up? Now she makes all these expensive travel arrangements. When you think about it now, America has really spoiled her.

Respect for our president

To “Paying for iPads,” the message was taken wrong. The mention of iPads is not in it. This is about respect for our president.

Abortion – very sad

I have heard the comment, “I didn’t want to be on welfare, so I had an abortion.” These are U.S. citizens making this statement. Currently, our country is filled with illegal residents who not only agree to be on welfare but welcome the free handouts. Having more babies equals more handouts. So, the women from other countries do not hesitate to take from our country as the U.S. women continue to abort their babies. Very sad.

Unions always want more

I agree with that person who said we don’t need unions. What I see is the unions always ask for more, and the companies and the schools can’t afford the raises, so we get layoffs and school closings. No wonder the economy is in bad shape.

Messy customers

As a regular moviegoer, we totally enjoy this form of entertainment. We enjoy also reading the credits at the end of the film, to learn where it was made and also the actors’ names, etc. My call today is to offer my total disgust with [others, who] I hope are not from Batavia, who attend these movies. Too often, the lazy adults will not pick up their trash, popcorn and drink containers, and carry them to the proper receptacles at the theater’s entrance. Sure, the management does send in their help to police the theater before the next showing, but why should the hired help have to clean up after these so-called adults? Management spends good money to produce the shut-off of electronic and cellphone ads up to three times before a showing. Why not add, “Hey America, let’s clean up after yourself?”
