Aurora man struck, killed in crash near Sugar Grove

An Aurora man was killed Monday night after being hit by a pickup truck on Jericho Road between the intersection of Dugan and Ashe roads in unincorporated Sugar Grove Township.

Dean Craig, 54, of Aurora, was pronouncd dead at the scene. The Kane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash, which occurred at 7:40 p.m. Monday.

An initial investigation indicates that a Toyota Tundra pickup driven by Joseph Morgan, 25, of Plano, was traveling east on Jericho Road when it struck Craig, who was walking east on Jericho Road, according to a press release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Morgan, who was the sole occupant, was uninjured. 

The roadway where the crash occurred is a country road with no lighting and a 55 mph speed limit.

The crash remains under investigation by members of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and further details of the crash were not available. Jericho Road was closed between Ashe and Dugan roads for about three hours for the investigation.
