Geneva bank cuts ribbon

Members of the Geneva business community gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday for State Bank of Geneva, 22 S. Fourth St., in downtown Geneva. Bank President and CEO Lewis Deal is holding the scissors. The ribbon-cutting was outside the bank’s temporary facility after the main building sustained serious fire and smoke damage in October. Deal said while bank business is conducted at the Fourth Street location, some customers have to travel to 15 N. Fifth St. Deal expects the second floor and basement of the main building to be operational within two to three months while the main floor and lobby will not be operational for nine to 10 months, mostly because of the smoke damage. Still, Deal said the fire did not slow the business of the bank down, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony was to let the community know they are there and operational.
