Letter: Support all BHS groups

To the Editor:
I am writing in regards to recent postings on “The Official B-Town Beat Fan Page” on Facebook, concerning the lack of spirit at basketball games this season.

As a senior at Batavia High School, I find it completely inappropriate to encourage negative discussion about several groups in the school – particularly the pep band and student section – in favor of another group.

Regardless of my personal opinions, it is unlike Batavia to pit its own against one another, and this recent trend disturbs me deeply. I sincerely hope that members of the Batavia community will continue to support the Batavia basketball team throughout its 2012-13 season, but also support the many other fantastic groups BHS sponsors – without speaking adversely about any.

So many Batavia students accomplish great things without recognition, and it is unfair to argue that an athletic team is not adequately supported when so many incredible things in other areas of the school go unrecognized.
