In Focus: Spirit of giving

Published: Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 5:30 a.m. CST

I was able to see a lot of Santa’s “helpers” while out in the Tri-Cities during the past few weeks.

I spent the most time with Bob Miller, principal of Haines Middle School in St. Charles, who has visited Mooseheart for the past nine years.

Miller brought with him a gift for every child and presented them in the school’s library. The gifts were from lists to Santa and paid for by various Haines fundraisers.

Miller said he started the gift program in honor of his father, who was an orphan. The Christmas spirit is indeed alive and well, and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
