St. Charles North senior Ariana Furrie has committed to play Division-I golf at Wagner College.
Wagner is located on Staten Island in New York City. Furrie made her first visit to New York last month to visit Wagner, and decided on the school about a week later.
"I really got along with all the coaches and I like the whole setup of it," Furrie said on Saturday. "It's not laid-back but it's not crazy intense. I think it's a good fit for me because I'll still be able to practice a lot. The school is a couple minutes from the golf course."
Furrie, the Kane County Chronicle's Girls Golfer of the Year as a junior, said Wagner is "a really small school, but I think it's cool."
"It has old buildings and it's been there for [a long time]," Furrie said. "It's just up a hill and then once you go down the hill it's the middle of Staten Island. From campus it's really cool because it looks over the city and the bridges."
Furrie said she is interested in studying psychology and art at Wagner.
