Gresey: ‘Backstage’ column gets feedback
James Brown. Joan Rivers. And – most recently – Martin Short.
These well-known stars have been just a few of the subjects Ron Onesti has written about in his “Backstage” column.
Ron is president and CEO of Onesti Entertainment Corp. and the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles. His columns run Thursdays in the Kane County Chronicle, and they have generated many “Likes” on the Chronicle’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/kanecountychronicle.
In addition, Ron’s columns have received fantastic verbal and written feedback.
Reader Don Augustine recently sent us this in an email:
“I would like to tell Ron Onesti and the KCC how much I have enjoyed his articles recently. The Kevin Costner, Joan Rivers and ... Ed McMahon remembrances are just a terrific look into the human side of these big stars. I guess I’m right in the sweet spot of demographics for this stuff, and as a longtime KCC subscriber, I hope to read many more.
“Frankly, I am a hard news guy. Don’t give me People or US or any of that other famous-personality stuff. But for some reason, I really enjoy Ron’s writing style, and the great human side of these stories. There is no hype, no thrill journalism ... just a great inside story of how these stars interact when not on stage. And, frankly, when you write about a Joan Rivers working 12-hour days, and being demanding with her show, it gives us an insight into a hard-nosed successful business woman, and maybe a little bit of why she is so successful.
“ ... Anywho, please keep these interesting insights coming! And thank you KCC for all the other hard news written about our little vill of STC and the Fox Valley.”
A big thanks to Don for the feedback. We appreciate knowing what our readers think about our array of columnists, which includes – among others – nature columnist Pam Otto, opinion columnist Rick Holinger and Batavia Park District columnist Kari Miller, who is the district’s director of marketing and public relations.
