St. Charles East's Stephens reportedly to have season-ending surgery

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

St. Charles East basketball senior standout Kendall Stephens will have season-ending surgery on his torn labrum later this month, according to a report late Friday night on Goldandblack.com, a Purdue fan site.

Stephens, a Purdue recruit and arguably the top boys basketball player in the area, aggravated his labrum injury during a game against Stevenson at the Proviso West Holiday Tournament. He originally tore the labrum during preseason practice but hoped to delay the needed procedure until after his senior year.

East coach Pat Woods told the Chronicle on Thursday evening that Stephens was out indefinitely, and that his status would be determined by an upcoming doctor's visit. Stephens missed the final two games of the Proviso tournament.

The 9-4 Saints return to action on Saturday against Evanston.

For more on Stephens, check out KCChronicle.com later this weekend.
