Man charged with attemped sexual abuse in Sugar Grove

SUGAR GROVE – An Oswego man was charged Tuesday with attempted criminal sexual abuse and battery after an incident in Sugar Grove.

Jeffery D. Bernard, 51, of the 100 block of St. George Lane, Oswego, was taken into custody by U.S. marshals Tuesday on a warrant that was issued Dec. 18. He later was released after posting 10 percent of his $10,000 bond.

Sugar Grove police investigator John Sizer said the Kane County Sheriff’s Office chose to use U.S. marshals to take Bernard into custody because the department doesn’t have the manpower to serve its own warrants.
