State Sen. Karen McConnaughay, R-St. Charles, was sworn in as state senator for the 33rd District during inaugural ceremonies Jan. 9 in the Senate Chambers. Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis administered the oath of office to McConnaughay as the General Assembly convened its 98th biennial session.
McConnaughay, who has served as Kane County Board Chairman since 2004, said she is honored to represent the 33rd Senate District and looks forward to the 98th Session beginning in earnest.
“Solving the fiscal crisis within state government is going to require a lot of hard work and concentration to meet our constitutional obligations of a balanced budget,” said McConnaughay. “I’m going to do everything I can to ensure a prosperous economic climate both today and for our children’s future.”
McConnaughay and her husband John have three children and two grandchildren. The senator’s district office is located at 81 S. McLean Blvd, Suite E, South Elgin, IL, 60177.
