Dogs and their unconditional love
Dogs provide what humans no longer do – loyalty, devotion, caring, trust, companionship, sensitivity, joy and fun and – most of all – unconditional love. Get a dog. Maybe you’ll become a human again.
Disability question
The Kane County Board’s inability to let a developmental disability question go to ballot in the April 2013 election reminds me of a Bible verse from Matthew, chapter 25, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
Let them know
People who are unhappy with some of the things that the city of Batavia is doing should contact their aldermen and let them know that they don’t agree.
Enjoy your next 4 years
I’m calling in response to “Why support abortions?” The reason why President Obama supported abortions was that he can get an extra vote. People, wake up. You voted for him, and now everybody’s going to have to suffer, except the rich people. Enjoy your next four years with the Democrats.
Founding fathers had wisdom
I still cry nightly for the children and families from Sandy Hook. I wonder what the killer’s mother was thinking to have such weapons, unlocked and available to her mentally disturbed son.
As a gun owner, I believe our founding fathers had wisdom that exceeded the times, 200 years ago. They realized that allowing the population to have weapons to protect themselves, provide for their families and resist tyranny – whether it be within our own government or outside invaders – was essential to maintaining our freedom. A caller in Sound Off mentioned allowing gun owners to keep muskets, but muskets against assault weapons is a losing battle. Lastly, I’d like to point out that the largest volunteer, armed citizen army in the world is our own general population of gun owners. That has to be a consideration taken into account by foreign invaders.
Way out of bounds
I’m calling to say that the NRA, who do they think they are that they can say people who are against all this gun business are wrong, and they are right? They are saying ugly things about the president and people like me, who think that the guns are too much in control right now. I don’t understand who they think they are that they can tell us what to do. NRA is getting way out of bounds.
Wasting valuable time
Why is everybody, including politicians, religious leaders and regular citizens, so concerned about people having guns? There are millions of firearms in the United States and probably billions of bullets for those weapons.
If the United States cannot figure out what to do with the millions of undocumented residents, how are we as a nation going to remove the guns and ammo?
There are over 500 murders [last year] in Chicago. How many of the shooters were the registered owners of those guns?
Congress is wasting valuable time over the Second Amendment, rather than working on the financial problems of the United States.
An illegal law?
There used to be a saying that was, “I never thought I’d live to see the day …” Now, I have to say I don’t even know where I live anymore, what country I live in. It’s illegal to cross our borders and come and live in this country illegally.
That’s a law that 20 million people have broken and are getting away with, but to compound that, our Illinois legislature passes a law to allow illegal people to drive on our roads.
That would seem that would be an illegal law. In the paper, it stated that our legislators and elected officials have a lower approval or acceptance level than cockroaches. Do you wonder why?
Quick fix
A little advice to anyone who has had a DUI and lost their license. Quick fix – just give up your U.S. citizenship and become an illegal, and you can drive legally. Plus, you pay no income tax and get free medical service.
Aren’t Illinois politicians great? They can’t solve a $98 billion pension shortfall, but they give illegals a license to drive. We go to jail, and they get licenses. This is the joke of the century.
Our own rights
I keep seeing Rahm Emanuel’s face on TV, day after day with the media, and they must love him – saying we need more gun control. And there’s already [at least] 15 murders in Chicago.
They did 15 times worse than the whole city of Aurora, and the city of Aurora had no murders, without having draconian gun laws imposed, and I think Rahm and the city of Chicago and probably the rest of the nation, need to be looking for a different solution to their perceived problems.
The problems are their own making. They have made a culture and a society with no morals or no work ethic, etc. The good old ways work, but they want more and more laws to put burdens on the working class of America and us who want our own rights.
A question of qualification
When did newcomer Trustee [Robert] Kovacs become king of Geneva Township? Just because Kovacs does not know someone, that doesn’t mean they’re not qualified to serve the community. Kovacs seems to be arrogant and full of himself. Perhaps the one who should be removed is Trustee Kovacs.
It’s a shame
I’m a resident of Campton Hills, not by choice. All you folks who voted to be a village because they said you would have a voice in the future growth got bamboozled.
The village leaders don’t care about your thoughts. They will do what they want, not what you think is right for your neighborhood. It’s a shame.
Why would any voter think another level of government is good? They must not pay attention to this country’s government. It’s a shame you all voted to be a village.
