The Elgin Symphony Orchestra gets ‘Wicked’

ELGIN – Broadway music lovers will unite for the Elgin Symphony Orchestra’s musical-inspired concerts Jan. 26 and Jan. 27.

Broadway stars Emily Rozek, who most recently starred as Glinda in “Wicked,” and Julie Reiber, who starred as Elphaba in “Wicked,” will sing songs from hit musicals like “Chicago,” “Ragtime,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “My Fair Lady,” and, of course, “Wicked.”

Rozek made her professional debut as the principle role of Winnie Tate in “Annie Get Your Gun,” starring Bernadette Peters. She has also performed  the lead roles of Millie Dillmount and Miss Dorothy in Broadway’s “Thoroughly Modern Millie;” and has been on National Broadway tours such as “Sunset Boulevard” and “South Pacific.”

Currently, Reiber stars as Marion in “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” at the Palace Theatre. She has been on Broadway as Brooklyn in “Bklyn,” Natalie and Ed in “All Shook Up” and worked alongside Harry Connick Jr. in “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.” 

ESO resident conductor and music director finalist Stephen Squires,  will lead the orchestra.

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26 and 2:30 p.m. Jan 27 Elgin’s Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.
