St. Charles Township man faces child porn charges

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – A St. Charles Township man has been charged with possession of child pornography.

Bond was set at $70,000 for Refugio M. Padilla, 34, of the 7N200 block of Barb Hill Drive in St. Charles Township. Authorities obtained a warrant and searched Padilla’s home Thursday, and he later was booked at the Kane County Jail.

Lt. Pat Gengler, spokesman for the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, said in an email that the Naperville Police Department handled the investigation and turned information over to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office because Padilla lived in its jurisdiction.

Padilla has been charged with three counts of possession of child pornography by computer.

His next court date is Jan. 30.
