Body found near Philip B. Elfstrom Events Center

GENEVA – A 43-year-old Geneva man whose body was found in a tree near the Philip B. Elfstrom Events Center on Saturday apparently took his own life, according to Kane County Coroner Rob Russell.

"We don't believe it is anything else but a suicide at this time," Russell said Tuesday.

He did not immediately know the identity of the man, but said his office would release his name on Wednesday. Russell said his office would conduct toxicology on the body, but did not know if an autopsy would be done.

The body was found in a tree on Kane County Forest Preserve property near the Philip B. Elfstrom Events Center, Russell said. The Events Center is also located next to the Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

Kane County Forest Preserve police discovered the body after someone on a passing train said they saw a body in a tree.
