In Focus: Police presence

I was at Kaneland Harter Middle School in Sugar Grove on Tuesday when Sugar Grove Police Chief Ron Moser, Sgt. Tom Barna and Mayor Sean Michels unveiled one of three new squad cars purchased by the village.

Group after group of sixth-graders filed into the school’s receiving area to take a look at the 2013 Ford Interceptor, with its lights flashing. The students, including Mabel Cummins (pictured) got a chance to climb into the passenger side of the car and out the driver’s side.

It was a great way for the police department to be involved with the students and allow them to see those with the department in a laid-back environment.
